a haiku about work ...

My Day Today ... a haiku

Work is never dull.
It’s just an effing gumball.
Light at the end.

Random Thoughts (11/11/12)

A few things come to my mind as this Sunday draws to a close:
1.  Happy Veteran's Day!  Thank you to all those who defend the country and uphold the foundation America was built on.
2.  I wonder if the Cowgirls* winning today is a sign of the apocolypse?
3.  Speaking of the "End of Days", the Doomsday Preppers marathon on TV today has me wondering if I should stockpile mascara, lipstick and toothpaste?  #mynecessities
4.   I bit the bullet and bought some super expensive skin care products today ... they better make my zits go away, dimish my sun damage and prevent any wrinkles.
5.  I never thought I would be battling acne AND wrinkles at the same time.  #being32sucks
6.  The hubs and I are on a major "fall cleaning" obsession right now!  The kids learned very quickly to not leave anything on the floor or else it will be put on the curb for pickup.#iheartdumpsterdivers
7.  It makes me vomit in my mouth each time I see any sort of Christmas decoration before Thanksgiving.  #breathmintloveaffair
8.  I like Smiling ... Smiling is my favorite.

9.  I love listening to Katie lay in bed chatting with her Nina's** before she falls asleep.
10. Shaun's birthday is on Thanksgiving this year ... and I am once again at a loss on the perfect gift!!  I welcome any suggestions!!  #maybeextragravy
11.  Just for grins, I needed to have an 11th thought on the 11th day of the 11th month!  #11is1derful

Little bit ...

Hold your baby a little bit stronger.
Kiss that sweet face a little bit longer.
Let your heart grow a little bit bigger.
Snuggle that angel a little bit tighter.
Let yourself smile a little bit brighter.
Lift your head a little bit higher.
And bask in the Little Bit you created.

Pat yourself on the back a little bit.
And appreciate yourself a little bit.
Don’t worry that your body’s a little bit droopy.
And expect to cry a little bit easier.
You will worry more about the little bits and pieces of life,
But you will love a lot bit more.

You will probably drink a little bit more,
And definitely sleep just a little less,
But that Little Bit makes everything else in life
A little bit more bearable.

Squeeze, hug and snuggle your Little Bit,
Because your Little Bit is only little for a bit.

8 years ...

2 hearts
2 "I do's"
1 apartment
1 townhouse
1 dog
1 Nathan
1 real house
1 Katie
6 cars
Countless tears
Numerous hugs
Millions of "Love Yous"

You will always and forever hold my heart in the palm of your hand.  I know you feel that you aren't the best husband.  I don't want the best husband.  I want you.  Just you.  And your sweet smile and strong arms that pick me up when I've fallen.  I want to share a bed with you until the day we die ... even if that means listening to your snores.

Life isn't perfect.  Marriage isn't perfect.  You aren't perfect.  I'm not perfect.  But, together, everything IS perfect in the most unperfect way.

I promise to continue loving you as long as you continue loving me.

... "I Do" again and again and again!

Ode to my energy sippy ...

Energy sippy,
Oh, energy sippy,
You turn this Zombie into a Zip-Zippy!
You put a Spring in my Steppy!
And add some Zest to my Zesty!

Sweet Sippy of mine,
You treat me just fine,
And help fill my world with rainbows and sunshine.
Few things are better than you (and wine).

You berry goodness is made of words I can't say,
And your contents aren't tested by the FDA,
But still I buy you and gulp you galore,
Plus you make my lips tingle ... Which I adore!!

Energy Sippy,
Precious Energy Sippy,
Keep putting the Bop in my Bippity
And I will keep drinking you Snip-lickity!

Random Thoughts (10/5/12)

As I sit here waiting for the sleepy pill to kick in, I feel compelled to update you with my Random Thoughts ...

  1. I get annoyed at the auto formatting features in word processing documents.  I am ANAL about formatting and line spacing and do not like the computer to force me to format against my priniciples!
  2. I wonder what kind of spam I will receive after capitalizing the word ANAL ... #ewwwgrosssssss
  3. Why does my head get itchy when my hair is dirty?  You would think it would be the opposite because all of the oil will moisturize and make your scalp un-itchy.
  4. I just remembered a recurring dream I have of being in a half empty grocery store in the middle of the night in the produce section.  And it's really dimly lit.  #whatdoesitmean
  5. I like ice.
  6. Tomorrow is the Rib, Rub, Run 5K in Downtown Rockwall, Texas!  Am I participating because it's a great charity?!  No!  Am I participating because it's a good t-shirt?!  No!  I am participating in the race because there is also a BBQ cook-off and I get first dibs on all the yummy goodness as a race participant!
  7. The girl still has the baby mullet ... and the back keeps getting "more party" while the front continues to stay "business as usual" ... sigh.  #joedirtdaughter
  8. I don't think I ever posted the the result of the "Bitchin' Kitchen" renovation!
  9. Today, Nathan took on the following personalities: "Becky, The Wrestler", "Becky, The Witch", "Peter Parker", "Spiderman", "Billy, The Wrestler", "Doug, The Wrestler" and "Bread Face"
  10. I think my Ambien is kicking in!

10 Things I'll Later Regret Telling You....

  1. I have an irrational fear of going down escalators.
  2. I dated a guy who thought he was a witch in high school ... and still have bad dreams about him to this day.
  3. I often pee my pants when I run (Thank you very much childbirth!)
  4. No matter how satisfied I am with my life and confident about myself, I still feel insecure when put in an environment with the "cool kids" from high school.
  5. I'm incredibly conservative and am an avid fan of the second amendment.
  6. I used to be OCD-anal about my house being constantly picked up (luckily my PPD Happy Pills took care of that tendency).
  7. I went 16 years without puking (age 11 to 27).
  8. I've gone 3 1/2 years without a cigarette but still randomly crave them.
  9. I can't stand it when people cuss in everyday conversation ... it makes them look ugly.
  10. I love cleaning my ears with q-tips!  It is seriously one of he most amazing feelings ever!

Challenged ...

Hello from the dark recesses of my life!  I apologize for not being a better blogger!  Not a day goes by without something happening and I think to myself "DANGIT!  This would make a great blog topic".

Apparently life being a full time working mom of 2 incredibly active kids leaves minimal room for writing!

So, I will try my best to be a better blogger ... or at least wipe the dust off and move the papers around so that it appears I've been blogging!

Hugs and Kisses with lots of well wishes!!!

Thoughts while vacuuming ...

I spent 25 minutes vacuuming my house and forgot how awesome and therapeutic vacuuming is!

Below are the thoughts (that I remembered) while vacuuming my house on a cloudy sunday afternoon:
  • All people are put on this earth for an amazing reason!  When I see children with disabilities or "differences", I want to hold them and say "Thank you for being different!  You will help ease someone else's pain someday!"
  • I have the energy to move my kitchen table to reach every nook and cranny of my kitchen rug ... yet I don't have the energy to pick up the half-moon shape from Katie's shape-sorter off of the carpet (P.S. it's been sitting in the same spot for 3 days.  P.P.S.  I vacuumed around it instead of moving it.)
  • I feel like I could be doing so much more with my life right now.
  • Are there any non-profits out there who would  benefit from my skills (whatever they may be).
  • My baby boy turned 4 today.
  • My baby boy is starting a new "school" tomorrow.
  • Surprisingly enough, I am dealing with my baby boy growing up just fine.
  • Vacuuming rocks!
  • I want my husband to start a blog that is entitled: My Wife is the Shiz-nit! And feature a picture of me as I am vacuuming the house in cut-offs with no make-up while drinking a beer.

Random Thoughts ... 8/16/12

  1. I have been in absolute awe of my kids lately!  Especially Nathan ... he's turning into such a little man!  My heart grows and breaks at the same time!
  2. My paying job is hellaciously busy and stressful lately.  Maybe that's why I'm so infatuated with the kiddos right now since they are what keeps me going during the day.
  3. I swear groceries are more expensive EVERY week!  We grocery shop every week and I can't leave without spending at least $120!
  4. What is Sissy whining about?
  5. If home is where the heart is, then where is the brain?  Kidneys?  Uterus?
  6. Don't make eye contact with Sissy because then she will think you want to play with her.
  7. Poor Sissy!
  8. We are taking our first official "LEVERETT FAMILY" vacation in a few weeks!  And we are bringing reinforcements (aka: the in-laws) to chauffeur Diva-Katie from Plano to Galveston because she is not a fan of being confined and will let the world know how unhappy she is imprisoned in her car seat!
  9. If anyone has extensions in their hair and you don't like them, here's how to get them out.  First, over condition them where they are connected and then when they dry, and then put your flat iron on it's hottest setting and melt the adhesive and they will slide right out!
  10. The hubs and I set a goal for the room "formerly known as the kitchen".  It needs to be finished (painted with flooring) by Nathan's birthday party on 9/1.
  11. We took the kids to Mass for the first time in their lives this evening ... it was a moderate success.  Nathan did awesome and stood/knelt without complaints.  Katie was her usual chatty self so she and Shaun hung out in the "baby room".

Katie loves breakfast ...

It was 7:30 Sunday morning ... Mama was tired and Katie was hungry.  The following is a pictorial of Katie's breakfast ...

Breakfast started on the floor but then Katie kept choking on dog hair.
So the breakfast relocated to the kitchen table.

Katie likes breakfast.

Now if only Katie could get her hands on the bag ... she could get more breakfast!

Yay!  She got the bag!  Success!

Uh, oh!  Katie got a little too crazy with the breakfast ...

And it ended up everywhere but in her mouth!

Don't worry!  Sissy will clean it up!

And Elmo can eat some too!

Yay!  Breakfast for ALL!

Wow, Sissy!  You LOVE breakfast too!

I like breakfast!

Random Thoughts ... 6/29/12

1.  I feel sorry for the letter "X"!  It has too many personalities ... it is silent in some words (like bandeaux), and sounds like a "z" in other words (Xerox) and ALSO sounds like an "x" (x-ray)!
2.  EVERYBODY has tattoos!  I hate to think about how my generation will look when we're great grandparents.
3.  GO RANGERS!!!!!
4.  The hubs bought the bug zapper.  I like to name it's victims!  "Oh!  Esther just died!  Oh!  Ned sure sounded like he was a big bug!  My!  That wasn't a very fun way to die, Pearl!"
5.  I swear my head feels much heavier on a Friday afternoon than it does on a Monday morning!  It's because I learned so much at work!
6.  The "carpet stainers" are spending the night at Grandma and Pa-Pa's house so the hubs and I are taking advantage of the freedom by watching baseball and drinking beer ... on the couch!
7.  It's hot outside!
8.  I wish people enjoyed watching rainbows and unicorns just as much as they enjoy watching boxing, wrestling, MMA, etc.
9.  I'm convinced that a British or English accent adds an automatic 100 points to a person's IQ.
10.  Why don't legs tan as easily as arms?  I have a good summer glow from the waist up but still look like a pasty mess from the waist down!

Klassy ... with a "K"!

I like to consider my family as Klassy ... with a capital "K"!

Klassy is totally different than the pinky-in-the-air class that the rich folks have.  Klassy people take total and full advantage of the funner (not finer) things in life ... we find joy in the simple things.

Below is my Top Ten List of how me and the brood live a domestic lite beer life on a water budget.

1.  Home Depot and Bass Pro are a weekend highlight.
Home Depot!
Bass Pro!

2.  If the kids want to visit the zoo, we go to the pet store and look at the animals.
Birds!

Fish!

3.  The local Hooters-Girls know my kids.
It's 'Hooter-ific'!

4.  We have "our table" at Cici's.
Buffet ... one of my favorite words!

5.  Naked is a suitable attire in my house.

6.  Our grill sits on our patio table and uses a portable propane tank.

7.  We have plastic lawn chairs in our front yard (and they are from my college days).

8.  There is a John Deere windmill in our backyard.

9.  My husband is Craigslist-ing a bug zapper.
The louder the BZZZZT sound the better!

10.  I LOVE shopping at Wal-Mart ... seriously.
Where else can you buy fruit, meat, beer, flip flops AND lawn furniture in one stop?

Marriage is a road ...

Marriage is a road.

There are twists and turns.

Red lights, green lights and those fickle yellow lights.

There are hills and valleys ... bumps and dips.

And the dreaded school zones.

And then, when you least expect it (but need it the most), you find yourself on the most beautiful road ever taken.  There are no words to describe the beauty you see.  The sun rays hovering through the trees puts your soul at complete peace.

I am on that road right now ... traveling with my main squeeze.

And I am doing everything I can to cherish every moment of this beautiful ride.

More Nathanisms

Ladies and Gentlemen ... I present to you ... more words from that wonderful little boy ... Nathan!

Nathan: "Katie, quit touching my balls!"
(in reference to her playing with his golf balls)

************************************************************************************************

As we were walking out of Chili's one evening, Nathan yelled to Shaun:
Nathan: I'm gonna mess you up!
Shaun: What?!
Nathan: I mean ... I'm gonna eff you up!
And at that, we ran like the wind out of that blasted restaurant and vowed never to return!

************************************************************************************************
Me: Nathan, your underwear is on backwards.
Nathan: No they're not!
Me: Yes they are!  Thor is supposed to be on your bottom!
Nathan: No ... Ma!  His name is "Thor with a hammer" and he's supposed to be on my pee pee!
Me: "Thor with a hammer" is supposed to be on your bottom.
Nathan: No, Ma!  I can't see "Thor with a hammer" if he's on my bottom and he can't watch me pee!

************************************************************************************************

One morning, Nathan, Shaun and Katie were wrestling on our bed and Katie started getting too close to the edge for Nathan's comfort ...
Nathan: "Katie, stop right there or else I'm gonna pop your butt!"

************************************************************************************************

And I swear that grossness is part of the male DNA:
"Smell my stinky feet!"
"Haha!  I tooted!"
"Hahahaha!  Katie tooted!"
"Haha!  I tooted ... nope ... I just made skid-marks"

************************************************************************************************

And one thing I love more than anything, my Turkey's attention to his outfit and appearance!  He often insists on picking out his clothes for the day and I gladly oblige him!  Below are some of my favorite Nathan trends!

Pirate Outfit:  All pirates need a good pair of "Pirate Swim Shoes"
Sunday Morning Donut Outfit: PJ pants, boots and polo shirt!

Lawn Mower Outfit: Everyone wears polo shirts buttoned to the neck to mow the yard ... right?!

And there's nothing wrong with wearing your little sister's "bungle bee" costume in January.

A bib as a cape?!  Yes, please!  But only if I can wear it with a Monkey knitted hat!

This picture was taken in May ... when it was 80 degrees out.  Poor Katie was such a good sport!

That's right ... life jacket and jammies!

The fly swatter ties it all together ... don't you think?!

Baseball Outfit: With the dress shirt from Christmas

And my favorite ... his Jungle Outfit.  This outfit is 12 month and he wore it when he was 7 months old!!!

Have you seen Moti?

Hello!

I've lost a "friend" of mine.
His name is Moti ... Moti Vation.
If you see Moti, please send him my way.
He's very important to me earning a paycheck and feeding my family.

Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated!

Thanks much!
Becky

P.S. I'm still missing Moti's buddy. Her name is Concen Tration.

Cuckoo for Coco ...

There is a girl named Coco.

She is a little bit loco.

She likes when you spend money at "Depot".

She is terrified of the Geico gecko!

If she had a dog, his name would be Toto!

Her favorite bird is the Dodo.

Coco prefers ice cream over Fro-Yo.

And always smiles for a photo!

Ned Flanders would say "Hidey-Ho Coco!"

She is my friend, my homey, my bro ... yo!
